At our doctoral seminar at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary on Global Christianity and Development, the O’Donnell’s expertly wove together the Christian responsibility to do good in the world with the extensive development plans of the United Nations and other global entities. This relationship is critical for the future of humanity and the O’Donnells, who are working internationally as psychologists across sectors, are in a unique position to bridge these two worlds.” Todd M. Johnson, PhD. Director, Center for the Study of Global Christianity, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (26 February 2015)

Global Member Care, Global Mental Health, and Sustainable Development

“Drs. Kelly and Michèle O’Donnell have been guest speakers to third year doctoral students in the Consultation, Evaluation and Psychoeducation class in the clinical psychology program at George Fox University (2013, 2014). Kelly also came to present at the George Fox University graduate department of clinical psychology on the topic of global integration (2013). On all three occasions, the O’Donnells have opened the students’ perspectives on how psychologists can work in an international context, consulting with individuals or even large humanitarian organizations in various parts of the world. They have demonstrated that skills earned through a doctorate in psychology can be translated into skills that are valuable to working with governments, non-governmental organizations, cross-cultural and multi-lingual contexts. Thanks to their pioneering work, we now have an initial map (global integration) of what it looks like to work outside our borders and to collaborate with others on such important issues as human rights, sustainable development, and member care in mission/aid.” Marie-Christine Goodworth, PhD, Graduate Department of Clinical Psychology, George Fox University (3 April 2014)

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to share with us at Rosemead the work you are doing internationally.  I came away from your presentation both encouraged and challenged.  I was encouraged by the messages you had for us to expand our perspective, consider ways to utilize our skills beyond our little niches here in the U.S.  I was particularly encouraged by your model of what psychology can look like in cross-cultural contexts.  I was also challenged in thinking about ways to better represent global possibilities in my own course material that I present to my students, both graduate and undergraduate.  I will definitely be looking into your 60 minute GMHer materials.  🙂  Thanks again.  Hope you will stay in touch with us at Rosemead.” Christina Lee Kim, PhD, Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University (18 April 2013)
